**Regular Suburi Bokken Red Oak 3.5 Shaku:

This Regular Suburi Bokken features a heavy and wide blade for strengthening Suburi exercises. This model is available in 3.8 shaku ( approx 45") or 3.5 Shaku ( 41") sizes and comes in Japanese Red.


What is Japanese Red Oak?

The Red Oak Wood used for Japanese Bokken, also called 'Akagashi', greatly differs from the Red Oak Wood referred to when speaking about North American Bokken.
While the North American Oak and Japanese Oak are related, the Japanese Oak tree is evergreen, due to this it does not have a conspicuous open grain like the American White and Red Oak.
The open grain structure, of the American Oak wood produces soft areas which are more prone to impact damage.
Akagashi on the other hand has a structure that is uniformly hard, has excellent dent resistance and has better impact strength than American Oaks.
Nowadays Akagashi is a quite rare and expensive even in Japan, and is mostly used for making high quality Bokken.

**3.8 Shaku Oar Shaped Suburi Deluxe Bokken:

The Oar Shaped Suburi Bokken Deluxe is inspired by the story of Miyamoto Musashi's oar shaped bokken, which he is said to have used in his duel with his arch-rival Sasaki Kojiro in their legendary duel on Ganryu Island.
Compared to a regular Suburi Bokken, the weight is even more balanced towards the tip. It's long, wide and heavy, great for strengthening Suburi. Comes with a Sakura seal on the rounded butt as a proof of quality and made with Red Oak.
