What is Keishi Ryu?

Keishi Ryu may not be considered as Koryu (classical) Kenjutsu by definition as the style was developed during Meiji restoration period as an official set of kata to be practiced by Japanese metropolitan police members.
However, it can be categorized as Koryu as the style's technical repertoire consists of effective kata/techniques selected from other Koryu schools. The repertoire include 10 Kenjutsu kata, 5 standing Iaijutsu kata and 16 Jiujutsu kata. Unfortunately most of the Iaijutsu and Jiujutsu kata have been lost to the flow of time.
The style is still practiced by Japanese metropolitan police members, along with kendo.
