The Story
Featuring an extra-wide blade, the Koto Higo is a heavy and unique koshirae amongst Minosaka's distinguished line-up. Of particular note are the beautiful and unique fittings unavailable anywhere else, featuring two inlaid start patterns. Based on a Koto style sword, the curvature is slightly more pronounced than Edo-period swords, practitioners who prefer older style blades or follow a ryu-ha like Katori Shinto-ryu.
This koshirae weighs approximately 950g without the saya at 2.5 Shaku, therefore it is closer to a shinken than most iaito in terms of feel and heft. Made by hand at Minosaka's Gifu Workshop.
*Iaito are made with an aluminum zinc alloy blade and cannot be sharpened.
