The Story

Dotanuki was originally a sword smithing school originating in a village of the same name in Higo Province. Renowned for their practicality and no-nonsense approach to aesthetics, Dotanuki blades were thick and heavy, designed to be used in battle repeatedly.

This Minosaka iaito lives up to the legacy of the Dotanuki name, with its extra-broad and heavy blade, suguha straight line hamon, and simple higo style fittings. At 2.5 Shaku it weighs approximately 1200g, equivalent to a shinsakuto or large nihonto from the bakumatsu period. If you are looking for a hefty iaito, styled in a traditional higo manner the Dotanuki is a perfect companion.

*Iaito are made with an aluminum zinc alloy blade and cannot be sharpened.
