Kurama Tengu

One of our most popular bogu, the Kurama, is named after the tallest and northern most mountain surrounding Kyoto, Mt. Kurama. This is the location at which it is said that Kiichi Hogen dwelled and taught Yoshitsune and others swordsmanship which became the Kyohachi-Ryu or "Eight Schools of Kyoto" - or so the legend goes. 

This set brings you a Deluxe Pitch Orizashi Kendo Bogu,  a great example of having three highly sought after qualities: excellent shock absorption, simple yet attractive, and very comfortable to wear. The 6mm stitch width of this set is the prefect balance of lightness and protection. 

The kote have been completely altered from the original Kurama to bring a very different feel to this bogu. The yoroi style fist has been replaced with a standard style atama and also reinforced with clarino synthetic leather to give these kote more protection and more resilience to stand up to regular keiko. 

The Kurama is the perfect all around bogu. Great for both beginners and experienced kenshi alike, this bogu has a wonderful design that is subtle and yet creates a powerful, bold presence.
