The Story

Historical Background

Kijinmaru Kunishige, a master swordsmith of the Edo period, crafted blades that became the stuff of legend. Among his most renowned admirers was Saito Hajime of the Shinsengumi, who wielded one of Kunishige’s extraordinary creations. The swords he forged were not merely tools of combat but works of art, often inscribed with “摂津住池田鬼神丸国重”. The Kanji 鬼, meaning "demon," which inspired this Koshirae. 

Specifications

This Koshirae reproduces the Kunishige's dynamic O-Midare Hamon on the grooved blade made of sand-casted, reinforced zinc/aluminum alloy. The Tsukagashira features a furious Demon's face and his favorite weapon, an axe is featured on the Fuchigane collar. Tsuba is the reproduction of legendary Toryusai Seiji's Tsuba with the theme of Fujin/Raijin(a god of wind and a god of thunder). The Menuki features the Onigawara, a talismanic roof ornamentation with statues depicting the Oni. Saya has a black gloss finish(Kuroro). 
A Deluxe version of this Koshirae is also available.

*Iaito are made with an aluminum-zinc alloy blade and cannot be sharpened.
