Proudly made in our Akamu wooden weapons workshop, these jo are crafted using the tried and true solid white oak. Resilient and long lasting, white oak has long been the preferred material for jo practice across traditional Japanese martial arts and koryu disciplines. Its balance of strength and flexibility makes it especially well-suited for the dynamic striking, thrusting, and control techniques required in jo training. White oak is not only exceptionally durable, it is also visually striking—with its ivory to creamy white color and dense, tight grain, it is easy to see why this wood continues to define some of the finest jo available in Japan.
