The Story

Background of this Koshirae

Abarenbo Shogun, translated as Rowdy Shogun, was a long-running televised series that features the eighth Shogun of Tokugawa Shogunate, Tokugawa Yoshimune, who hides his identity to punish the vices in the city of Edo. Although this is a fiction written for the period drama on TV, Yoshimune has become one of the most popular Tokugawa Shogun amongst the modern Japanese people.

Specifications

This Koshirae features the characteristic Tokugawa family crest - Aoi(hollyhock) as an engraving on brass-made Habaki. The iron Tsuba features a bamboo tree and Fuchi/Kashira and Menuki, which are made of brass, feature the theme of draon.

A sand-casted, reinforced zinc/aluminum alloy extra wide blade with Suguha Hamon is single-grooved and weighs Approximately 850 grams without the Saya(for 2.45 Shaku).
The Tsuka is wrapped with Black cotton Tsuka Hinerimaki over white Tsukasame. Proudly handmade in Japan.

*Iaito are made with an aluminum zinc alloy blade and cannot be sharpened.
